My Blue and Yellow was founded by the brother and sister team of Adam Fergueson and Carol Fergueson, who wanted to combine their enthusiasm for Living Green with their interest in entrepreneurship. Everything they do in the business is about sustainability. That means using and selling products that are made from annually renewable resources, are biodegradable, can be composted or recycled, or are simply good choices for the environment.
They pride themselves in Being Green from the Ground Up so that everything they do is about Earth friendly choices. Those choices range from the boxes used for shipping and the paper invoices and receipts given to customers and suppliers to the products they choose to carry in their store. Their entire line of products is built around the simple principle that our resources are finite and will eventually be used up if we do not take measures to extend their usable life.
We get several questions about our name and the colors we use on our logo. The most prominent one is "what is the purpose of the colors blue and yellow?" Well, we will answer that question with another question - "What do you get when you mix the colors blue and yellow?" - (we will give you a minute to Google it if you need to....) you get GREEN! Our business is built on the foundation that all we have is temporary. To quote a popular song by the Christian group Casting Crowns we are "but a vapor in the wind, here today and gone tomorrow". We only have so much of any resource before we eventually use it up and run out – hence the reason we strive to be good stewards of all that we are given so that not only our generation but our posterity and the generations to come after them have the resources, too.
In addition to using resources wisely in our business, we also watch what we do at home. This includes reducing our time in the shower, using high efficiency washers and dryers (even hanging clothes outside to dry when possible), installing and using low-flow control values on our toilets, and adjusting the thermostat up or down depending on the situation to conserve electricity and gas throughout the year. Our business philosophy is to give back to the community, too. At least 10% of our profits go back to the community to help those who are less fortunate than us. Thank you for shopping our store and for helping our world to be a better place. Adam Fergueson
